WASSILY CHAIR
Marcel BreuerGAVINA
Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer dating back to Gavina’s production, recently restored with new leather upholstery.
Following their meeting in New York in 1962, Dino Gavina started the production of Marcel Breuer’s tubular furniture designed during the Bauhaus period, among which the Wassily chair (1925). With its chrome-plated steel tubes structure it is a perfect example of the rationalist approach. Its name is a tribute to the great Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky, Breuer’s friend and companion at the Bauhaus and owner of the first prototype.
