The name Garbo was suggested by Dino Gavina as a tribute to the actress Greta Garbo, evidencing its unique beauty and elegance.
Garbo is part of the permanent collection of Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art and of La Galleria Nazionale in Rome.
Garbo Wave’s peculiar shape is inspired by the prototype realized by Japanese architect Kazuhide Takahama for his daughter Saori, adorning Paradisoterrestre gallery’s ceiling since its opening in 2018.
The title ""Garbo"" was suggested by Dino Gavina as a tribute to the actress Greta Garbo, evidencing its unique beauty and elegance. Garbo has been included in the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection.
Mariyo Yagi is a Japanese environmental artist born in Kobe, Japan. She has received many awards, including 1995 Urban Art Award, Mauberge (France); the Urban Design Award, Toyonaka City (Japan); the 1999 Honorary Doctorate of Humanities (Anaheim University, USA) 2003; The 21st Kyoto Prefecture Culture Prize Merits Prize (Japan), etc. Yagi has worked for Isamu Noguchi in Japan in 1973-1976. She has produced numerous large-scale works in cities and natural regions throughout the world. They can be found in Europe, the United States, and Asia. Her poetic art works resonate with her NAWA principle. Spiral energy of movement and human beings together a metaphorical rope, all pulling together. She has found her own global vocabulary, an infinite array of spiraling forms. From 1980 through the present, she has created art-scape that incorporate plazas, gardens, fountains, earthworks and community art works. She has a canny ability to transform communities and the built environment through her unconventional interactive art practice. She shows every sign of moving forward with new ideas and new challenges. Her work continues opening new vistas and possibilities for humans from imagining a better world.
Heights are the following: 300 cm from the ceiling to the ground and 160 cm from table height. It is possible to cut off part of the fringe in order to reduce the height.
