ALEA CHAIR
Hannes PeerSEM
Contemporary dining chair Alea Paesaggio collection designed by Hannes Peer for SEM.
'Alea' is a very particular chair, born from an idea of deconstruction of the basic chair elements, in fact it denotes a structure that clearly separates every single element that make up a chair, from the feet to the seat and to the backrest. This division into separate elements means that at first glance it is not clear how the elements are actually held together, Hannes Peer's design philosophy lies right there, in trying to make the obvious less obvious, to transform the perception of an object from the daily use, render it more captivating, graphic, pure but at the same time comfortable. The Alea chair certainly finds its conceptual roots in the search for 'purity' made in the 70s by Pierre Cardin and is deeply inspired by the craftsmanship that lays the foundations of Pierre Chapo's carpentry work. The wide curved backrest offers ample back support and can also be used to rest your arms, while the chair's sculptural and timeless expression is sure to fit into any modern home setting. It offers exceptional sitting comfort thanks to the padded seat and its iconic swinging backrest. Its outstanding features are the wide and deep backrest, as well as its generously sized seat.
