ACRILICA

Marco Zanuso Soto

OLUCE

Acrilica table lamp designed by Marco Zanuso Soto for Oluce. Initially known as the 281 model, created in 1962, and was immediately nicknamed “Acrilica” due to the surprising innovation of its significant curve made from acrylic. Methacrylate, previously only used in thin sheets, found exceptional use here in a thick form allowing it to conduct the light through its shape from the base to the head. This “magical movement” of light makes this fixture more a work of kinetic art than a lamp all the while producing a beautiful indirect, diffused light. The base is fabricated of lacquered steel and illuminates the curved perspex diffuser.
