OS & OOS

Please Wait to be Seated

The KEYSTONE lounge chair is inspired by the three basic elements of a Roman bridge; the spanners, the elemental building blocks, and the keystone; completes the fundamental arch shape, which when inserted completes the fundamental arch shape. Originally made from concrete (back rest), rubber (keystone) and ceramics (sit surface). This version of the KEYSTONE lounge chair is upholstered with textiles from the Kvadrat collection and produced by PLEASE WAIT to be SEATED

This sculpture turned chair, is not just a soft artwork to sit on, it is also kid-friendly. kids love clambering all over it. So the chair gets our one-off label: PWTBSBTOYSFK (Please Wait to be Seated But Take Off Your Shoes First, Kids).

Studio OS & OOS is a design studio for small objects to larger spacial concepts. The duo who consists of Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen are both graduates of the Design Academy Eindhoven and started the firm OS & OOS in 2011. In every design and project they try to find the balance between form, material and their relation to the surroundings and the user. The majority of their work borders the line of design (in the industrial/ functionality sense) and autonomous objects; best described as contemporary objects derived from concept, yet rationalized to give them purpose. The conclusion of these efforts results in neither a product nor pure artistic expression, but a culmination of the both. A product where art = industry.
