Martinelli Luce, founded in 1965 by Elio Martinelli, has more than fifty years of history in the design and production of lamps and lighting systems. Elio Martinelli had the desire to create his own lighting fixtures to be used for commercial purposes. His main intention was to create lamps for interiors in both residential and commercial spaces.
His philosophy was to create lamps having a structure influenced by nature and geometry. Simple shapes and deep meaning with a focus on function can be seen throughout all the designs. By using this concept, he created different lamps like the Serpente, the Foglia, the Bolla, and the Dobermann.
Along with Elio Martinelli, architect Gae Aulenti has also created designs in the Martinelli Luce collection and their designs can be found in design museums around the world.
